SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Californians for Public Safety (C4PS), a coalition of small and large businesses, property owners, community leaders, and statewide associations, announced the first 20 members to join its ranks. The organizations have rallied together to raise awareness about the impact of commercial property crime on public safety, and the critical need to advance preventative crime measures.
“NFIB California is excited to join C4PS and collaborate with these influential organizations, each of which plays a crucial role in their respective sectors,” said John Kabateck, State Director, NFIB California. “I’ve seen the impact of commercial property crime – we can’t continue to stand idly by. C4PS will tackle this issue together through proactive, preventative solutions that ensure the safety and success of our businesses, employees, and customers. It’s time to create an environment where our hard work can thrive without the shadows of crime looming overhead.”
Commercial property crime refers to offenses directed at businesses and their physical assets, encompassing illegal activities like burglary, looting, arson, vandalism, and theft. While legislative and regulatory efforts have been directed to address retail theft, commercial property crimes continue to wreak havoc on businesses and public safety.
“As leaders of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, we witness firsthand the disproportionate impact of commercial property crime on our businesses. It hinders growth, threatens livelihoods, and undermines the vibrant spirit of entrepreneurship within our community,” says Julian Cañete, President and CEO, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. “Addressing this issue is not just a necessity; it’s a commitment to preserving the resilience and prosperity of Hispanic-owned businesses. Together, let’s stand against commercial property crime to ensure a thriving future for our communities.”
C4PS is committed to reducing bureaucratic hurdles and delays for businesses looking to install proven crime prevention security technologies, strengthening relationships between property owners, local government, and police departments to gain insight into crime and other security issues and provide feedback, and highlighting how prevention is a cost-effective alternative to the impact of crime on employee well-being, community safety, and the larger business ecosystem. The addition of these organizations to the coalition is a testament to the broad support and shared commitment to making California communities safer.
